THREE DAYS, TWO NIGHTS
Day One Arrive at the Inn at Snowshoe in the Cheat Mountain area where Robert E. Lee spent the early days of the First Campaign of the Civil War.
Travel to Snowshoe Mountain Resort to enjoy dinner at the Foxfire Grille for a laid back dining treat. View the rugged terrain the soldiers encountered. Visit the shops in the Village at Snowshoe. Return to the Inn at Snowshoe for the evening.
Day Two 7:30 am Breakfast at Brandi’s at the Inn 8:30 am Travel to Beverly, WV to visit the Rich Mountain Battlefield Museum 11:30 am Lunch at the 1863 Tavern in Elkins 12:30 pm Depart for Cheat Mountain, view the Bartow Battlefield site, Top of Allegheny and Travelers Repose 3:00 pm Tour the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Green Bank, and see the Green Bank Telescope, the world's largest maneuverable radio telescope.
4:30 pm Arrive in the logging town of Cass, home of the Cass Scenic Railroad. The Union soldiers discovered this vast timberland during the Civil War and returned to harvest it. 5:30 pm Dinner at the Last Run Restaurant in Cass [special evening dinner trains are available on scheduled weekends] Return to the Inn at Snowshoe for the evening
Day Three 7:30 am Breakfast at Brandi’s & Check-out 8:30 am Depart to the Highland Scenic Highway and Cranberry Glades Botanical Area and Cranberry Mountain Nature Center Noon Arrive at Pearl S. Buck’s Birthplace for a tour of the home and a hot lunch 2:00 pm Tour Droop Mountain Battlefield State Park 3:00 pm Departure from Pocahontas County
