THREE DAYS, TWO NIGHTS
Day One Arrive in Historic Lewisburg for lunch at one of the many local restaurants, followed by a walking & shopping tour on Washington Street. Lewisburg is rated as one of the best small towns in America.
Travel Rt. 219N to Hillsboro, the birthplace of Pearl S. Buck. Tour the birthplace of the first woman to win both the Nobel and Pulitzer Prize for Literature. Enjoy a home-style meal for dinner at the Birthplace.
Check-in at the Marlinton Motor Inn (may also choose the Inn at Snowshoe - 30 min additional drive time.)
Day Two 7:30 am Enjoy breakfast at the Sixties Cafe at the Marlinton Motor Inn or the River Place in Marlinton 8:30 am Depart for the historic logging town of Cass and the Cass Scenic Railroad State Park. Board a charter logging train for a trip to Whittaker Station. Boxed lunches are available Afternoon Depart for Green Bank, WV to tour the National Radio Astronomy Observatory and the Green Bank Telescope, the world’s largest maneuverable radio telescope in the world. 4:00 pm Depart for Snowshoe Mountain Resort. Enjoy dinner in the Village at Snowshoe at the Foxfire Grille Evening Return to the Marlinton Motor Inn (or the Inn at Snowshoe)
Day Three 8:00 am Breakfast at the Sixties Café & Check-out 9:00 am Depart for the Highland Scenic Highway and Cranberry Glades Botanical Area Noon Lunch at the quaint Country Roads Café in Hillsboro Departure from Pocahontas County
